Mental Health & Wellbeing Courses for Support Workers

Five courses on recognising and responding to emotional and psychological need on shift, anxiety and depression through to suicide awareness and inclusive practice.

Mental Health & Wellbeing is a small but high-impact stream, five courses built around recognising and responding to emotional and psychological need rather than diagnosing it. Anxiety, depression, trauma-informed practice, suicide awareness and LGBTQIA+ inclusive practice sit together here because they all ask the same thing of a worker: notice the person in front of you, respond consistently, and know when a moment is bigger than what you can hold alone.

None of this replaces clinical care, and these courses don't pretend a support worker is a counsellor. What they build is the everyday capability that sits alongside clinical support: staying present with someone who's anxious without rushing to fix it, recognising the quieter signs of depression across a run of shifts rather than one, knowing how to have a direct and safe conversation if suicide risk shows up, and building genuinely inclusive practice for LGBTQIA+ people rather than a tolerant one.

This stream matters most for services supporting people with psychosocial disability, complex trauma histories, or any cohort where mental health sits alongside the primary disability, which in practice is most NDIS caseloads. It matters for the worker's own wellbeing too. A few of these courses double as a way of naming what's genuinely hard about the work, not just managing it in others.

Each course builds understanding and judgement, not a clinical qualification.
